ECLIPSE
ECLIPSE is an immersive installation that invites visitors into a world of moths—beings that can evoke fascination, unease, or both. A sheer curtain marks the entry into this transformed space, where suspended wire-drawn moth sculptures interact with shifting air from a forest of readymade fans and with lights that cast exaggerated shadows, amplifying their presence. A hand-sized book of typewritten haiku, paired with abstract moth drawings and a recording of spoken haiku, augments this multi-sensory world.
The installation explores how we respond to what unsettles us—moving along a continuum from fear to curiosity, wonder, and connection. Drawing on both scientific study and personal encounters with moths and the extreme disruption they caused, the work invites viewers to notice their reactions, question their assumptions, and consider how transformation occurs—within themselves and in relation to other beings.
